French Resources
The following are some resources that we have found helpful in our study of
French.
 | Barry Farber, How to Learn Any Language: Quickly, Easily, Inexpensively, Enjoyably,
and On Your Own. The Amazon.com website has some very helpful
reviews of the book. In fact, for those on a tight budget, you can implement a lot of
Farber's ideas on
the basis of the reviews, without having to buy the book. (Though it is an
interesting read, if you can get hold of a copy!)
Farber suggests a multi-track approach to learning languages, which we are
adapting in our own study of French. |
 | French courses:

 | A French Bible (bought from the Trinitarian Bible Society, which
publishes Bibles in a variety of other languages)
http://www.trinitarianbiblesociety.org.au
TBS also produces French (and other language) calendars with a text for each
day, and this is what we use for our daily translation work. |
 | Foreign language Bibles online
http://bible.gospelcom.net/
I use this if I want to print out a particular chapter or verse. |
 | Audio Bible in French
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/fr/mp3/bible/frame/ we try to listen to 1 chapter a week, and stay with the same chapter for a
month or so. |
 | Translating "real French" we
choose some passages for the older children, and some for the younger ones.
There are plenty of sources online, some we have used are:

 | Singing French songs again, there
are plenty of resources online: these are some we have used:

 | French history:
 | A friend who visited France brought back for us a children's
book called 100 Dates de l'Histoire de France
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/editions-gisserot/jeunesse.htm
We plan to use this as a timeline, and for translation work. |
 | We plan to use 100 Dates de l'Histoire de France alongside one or
more of the following books:
